Lenovo forces all the T400 buyers to choose Vista by default. As far as I know, there used to be an option to choose GNU/Linux operating system with T61 models. I don't know why Lenovo has revoked those options with the T400 model. As I plan to use my T400 was development purpose as well, I want to install a GNU/Linux operating system and my option is Ubuntu, for its behavior in seamlessly detecting all devices.

To my surprise, when I booted the Ubuntu Hardy Heron I noticed that my wireless card wasn't detected out of box. When I googled for it, I found out that to be a know problem with all the Atheros wireless cards. The wireless card that I have in my laptop is:

(output from the command lspci -v)
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. It worked perfectly fine in my case.

Before I landed on the above menitoned link, I tried with the latest madwifi source from its subversion trunk and that didnt workout for me. *May be* the code under the subversion branch '../branches/madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6/' made the difference.

Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-76376136706038518452008-07-18T19:30:00.004+05:302008-07-18T20:35:30.021+05:30Heading towards another manoeuvre in my life
Its been an year wait for this, actually more than an year now. An year ago I felt like I should be taking up my masters program. There has been multiple reasons that urged me to take this decision. I felt it was a very hard decision, but for some reason I wanted to do that.

I remember the day I started to the read the book, Word Power Made Easy (WPME) by Norman Lewis. It was interesting and a great learning experience for me. Consciously I have never tried to improve by word power, being a guy who inhibits the habit of reading, you know the situation. But after few days of reading the book WPME, it was some kind of satisfaction that drove me to complete the book. Following that I started to read Barrons making my mind that I should give GRE in few months. That too happened, but completing Barrons was a real strenuous effort. I never thought I could do that! Following that was TOEFL, which didnt require much effort from my side.

The next big and demanding task was the application process. From the copious number of available universities, I had to narrow down to the ones I really would love to go. It required a lot of back and forth conversation with my friends and relatives. Another long and demanding period of time was the application phase, where I had to prepare documents required by these universities, couriering them, following it up, waiting for the results, etc. It didn't even stop after the results were out. To my luck, I (and all my univ mates) had to wait a long time to get hold of my I20. Once the I20 was in, it was a very quick week for me, I got my Visa stamped before I could realize that it happened.

Another surprise to me was that, by the last Monday (14th July) I had completed 3 years of my stint at Trilogy (and thus in the industry). I know this is a little late, I should have gone for my masters an year ago, but it is good that I atleast decided to take that up now, rather than never.

And FYI, I'm heading to the State University of New York at Stony Brook for my MS in Computer Science starting this Fall (September 2008) semester!

Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-25257380457315901572008-05-04T08:36:00.010+05:302008-05-04T11:28:37.998+05:30IPL at Chinnaswami StadiumIPL is the buzz these days. It may be because of the money that has been poured in, or the 100% guaranteed entertainment. At least I enjoy watching these games for the guaranteed fun.

I'm in Bangalore for the past 2.5 years and I haven't used this opportunity to watch a live match in the stadium. But I didn't want to miss this anymore. Since IPL T20 being a sure entertainer we set out to watch one. Being a native a Tamil Nadu, the obvious choice would be to watch the match between Chennai (Super Kings) and Bangalore (Royal Challengers).

- Chennai Super Kings
- Bangalore Royal Challengers

Watching a match in the stadium is much more different than watching it on a Television. The lively, energetic and sometimes boisterous crowd is one of the cogent reasons to witness a match in the stadium. Sometimes you ignore the actual match to get involved in some activities that happens in the stadium stands like the Mexican wave, etc.,That too in our case, the clash was between Chennai and Bangalore (the so called deadly-rivals in the water dispute) and with equal number of supporters for both the squads added the fun factor. During the final overs of the Bangalore innings, when they were loosing wickets in haste, the tamil crowd acclaimed Super Kings with slogans, which remained me of my college days.

Though Bangalore gave a big fight, they were unfortunate to lose the game. We witnessed great batting skills from MS Dhoni, Ross Taylor and Wasim Jaffer and an awesome bowling spell from Dale Steyn, though he stumbled in his last over with Dhoni. We were able to see players Kallis, Murali, Ntini and Hussey and drummer Sivamani in a very close proximity. To recapitulate, it is a great fun to watch a match in the stadium.

Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-19435646936023142812007-12-25T15:59:00.000+05:302007-12-25T16:06:27.004+05:30General advice, though not mine
Flipped this in one of the SUNYSB prof's (Tzi-cker Chiueh) home page.

- Read widely
- Learn to communicate well
- Be a team player
- The name of the game for being a graduate student is efficient time management
- Always make plans ahead
- Talk to knowledgeable people regularly
- Practice solving problems and building systems whenever you have a chance

May be these are very simple facts, but when you think again these would work out really well in improving yourself.

Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-62967443127469911922007-12-01T12:01:00.000+05:302007-12-01T13:30:09.007+05:30A Beautiful Mind
The four Oscar winning movie in which the life of the renowned mathematician Dr. John Forbes Nash is delineated splendidly. I have heard about this movie and was looking forward to see this for a long time. I didn't know anything about either the story or Dr. Nash before I saw the movie. But spent some time reading about Nash in the Wikipedia after I saw movie.

Yesterday I got a good print of this movie from my one of my colleagues. I started to watch the movie in the office and it was quite gripping that I watched the initial 10 to 15 minutes there but I had to stop and get back to my work. Yesterday late night after some of my personal works are done, I started again.

Russel Crowe has done a beautiful job in his body language. I have seen Russel's performance in the movie Gladitor where he acts as a warrior. The character in this movie is just opposite to that. He plays the role of a recluse mathematician playing with numbers, greek alphabets and trying to come up with some weird algorithms. The supporting role (Nash's wife) is played by Jennifer Connelly. She looked gorgeous and at the later she plays a very responsible role. The restaurant scene where she tries to give Dr. Nash a verifiable proof for her love and long time commitment was pretty. And in the later part of the movie, she beautifully plays a supportive role to her paranoid husband. Apart from these two characters, I liked the role of Josh Lucas. I don't know why, but he was charismatic in his speech and expressions during the early Princeton days in the movie.

The movie as a whole was neat and the screenplay, for sure, will spellbound you to the plot.

IMDb link - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0268978/

Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-89043526703769238842007-09-30T23:54:00.000+05:302007-10-01T00:01:51.892+05:30Convoluted mess!
Sometimes I do become one of the reasons for my barber's poor business :P

Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-30409727683561534982007-08-07T15:04:00.000+05:302007-08-07T15:30:18.863+05:30Sick (by)(of) surfeit!
My current GTalk status flashes (and would be the same for some more days too) "Sick of Surfeit!". Our current first citizen of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is going to get down from his office on 25th July. And I'm very sad that India is losing a great visionary leader and it is pretty clear from the current presidential elections that it will take some years to see such a dynamic, charismatic and phlegmatic personality.

Times before Dr. Kalam took office, from what I perceive, the President of India is the one who lives in Rashtrapati Bhavan, signs of some documents and more importantly the one who gives a talk on Doordhasan television during the Independence/Republic day. Dr. Kalam has given a new perspective to this esteemed position. I have never seen a President of India stepping out from Rashtrapati Bhavan and meeting people and discussing their problems, meeting students and giving them encouraging talks and even meeting industrialists. His simple mantra "dream!" has made Indians to think big. He even has a big vision/dream to make India a full-fledged developed nation by 2020.

It always feels good when you are led by such an energetic person. Even though it is sad that Dr. Kalam is going to step down from the post of President, it feels so good that he going to return to Anna University back as a professor/researcher. Currently it is a big question on how far Ms. Prathiba Patil is going to execute her prerogatives.

.. and finally to the motive of this post, a great salutation to Dr. Kalam for his great deeds towards the development of India.
Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-37186897898117815962007-06-05T14:31:00.000+05:302007-06-05T14:37:32.631+05:30Aesthetic!
For sure, you will be infatuated with this music, dance and ofcourse the performer. Its always the same reason from my side, laziness! Just yesterday, I got hold of a laptop in my workplace. So, thought of blogging it.

Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-1148410504566202262006-05-23T23:52:00.000+05:302006-05-24T00:25:04.630+05:30Its been a good time with this Indian market
Hmm., really it is not a good time with Indian market currently. Lot of corrections going on. In the past two weeks, there is a steep fall in the sensex for about 2000 points. For a starter like me, who doesnt have much investments in this volatile market, its been fun watching the numbers. More than FUN, it is a good learning experience.

For the past few months, I think there has not been a great correction in the market. So it was like, whoever invests in the market, even blindly, happened to book profits. It was just raising, raising and raising. But all of a sudden, the great fall that happened the last week and particularly the one on this monday, made everyone panic. No one can give a good reason of why the hell this market is falling down. In almost all of my colleague's portfolios, I could see them all filled with red figures. We used to make fun of this situation like, "Enna da, un portfolio-la rathama valzhiudha??". But for long term investors, this is the right time to accumulate good stocks. Rather than being panic, start investing in the right stocks now. I learned that for sure.

Another important thing that I learned is, if you keep wathing the market, you have a good probability that you loose that day with no work done ;-) Finally I would say, its been THRILL watching these numbers and FUN if you gain and LESSON if you loose (provided, you dont play with market blindly).

Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-1146297164773209732006-04-29T13:21:00.000+05:302006-04-29T13:23:27.386+05:30Awesome collection of TR videos
- The famous 'Vaada Yen Machi Vazhaka Bhaji' fight sequence. Being in Bangalore, its hard to move around places without a bike. You cant take the auto rickshaws every time, its getting costlier nowdays. The autorickshaw prices have been raised from 5 to 6 rupees per Km from the mid of this month. So I dont think Autorikshaws is the best choice in Bangalore, unless and untill you dont know to drive a bike ;)

I almost corned on to Bajaj Pulsar 150 and decided to buy that. But yesterday my brother told me that the TVS Apache has come into the market. I didnt consider Apache previously, coz., I thought it would take some more time to get into the dealer lots. But it seems they have reached the lots and the dealers have started to take booking for Apache. I also came to know that Apache has bagged so many awards like 'Best Bike of the Year', 'Best Design of the Year' and few more. Overdrive has also given great reviews on Apache. So now I have started to think why not consider Apache too?

I thought of asking you friends on what you say abt Pulsar 150 and Apache?? If you have some suggestions, comment that out!!

Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-1139581646835989552006-02-10T19:55:00.000+05:302006-02-10T20:00:32.570+05:30Sandisk 1GB Audio Player (SDMX1-1024)I was looking out for an USB flash drive in the market for the past few days. But after searching the internet and looking at the different products, I decided to buy an MP3 player (that can also be used as a data storage and carry device). I was also very curious to catch a cheap deal that comes during the thanksgiving period at USA. I had many options, when I have to choose one. iPod was one of my option when I was searching. But iPod was a bit costly option, when compared to its counterparts. After discussing with my brother, finally I decided to hold on with Sandisk's products. I chose 1GB Audio Player that comes in Silver color. The cheapest deal I could catch is for 95$. I saw few cheaper deals, but could not catch that on time ;(. Finally I order Sandisk 1GB for 95$. My brother's friend got that here when he returned back from USA.

It been a nice experience with this player. The moment I got this player, I felt it very light and small. Even after you load the battery (one AAA battery) it does seem to weigh much. The player included Audio player, FM Radio and Voice Recording. It plays MP3 and WMA files. You have a plenty number of controls and options to play with. FM Radio too rocks. You can store 20 preset stations. Nowadays I'm roaming around the city with this player's headphones on!!

It is a better choice!!
Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-1139087232301246922006-02-05T02:15:00.000+05:302006-02-07T17:41:01.950+05:30Wayanad - place where I tried hard core trekking
Wayanad, situated in the northern part of Kerala was our target during the Republic day holidays (26th to 28th Jan). We planned to take off at around 11 PM on 25th night. Unfortunately I had some critical work on 25th evening and it was a hectic schedule to complete my work and join the people at 11. Somehow I joined them in hurry burry at the last moment. I cant forget the way I completed the work, packed my stuffs and got into the van.

It was all set and we headed towards the Mysore road to reach Wayanad by early morning. By 07:00 AM we reached Kalpetta and booked rooms at MGT hotel. Everyone was so tired that it took sometime for everyone to refresh and finish our breakfast. Since we were late, we couldn't take the Kerala's famous dishes 'Appam' and 'Puttu'. We took the usual stuffs likes Dosa and Chappathi there.

Day 1 :
Our plan for the day one was to climb the Chembra peak and stay there that night (if we could get some tents and stuffs). Since we didnt plan well in before, we could not get the tents ;(

Chembra Peak :

To reach Chembra peak, we need to first reach a place called Meppadi, that was around 17 kms from Kalpetta. From Meppadi you can see the Chembra estate direction board. When we reached the Chembra Estate gates, the watchman asked us for the pass to enter the estate. So two of our guys took the van back to the Forest office at Meppadi to get the pass. It seems, that is an easy job to get the pass. From the information we got from the watchman, to reach the peak's bottom we need to walk 7kms and from the bottom, the peak is around 3kms. So we decided to take the van inside the estate and cross atleast some distance with the van. But after seeing the tea estate sperad on both the sides of the road, we decided to walk all the way. We started to walk carrying the heavy bags, catching the estate's beauty with our cameras. It took around two hours to reach the peak's bottom. We refilled our water bottles there. Then started the real trekking, it was an absolute hilly terrain surface. It was a sunny day with the Chembra peak having no trees, it was harder to trek ;( We stopped at a place where we found a shade benith a rock. It almost took an hour or half more than an hour to reach a lake at the top. That was simply awesome!! A small lake at the top of the mountain. To reach the top of the peak we still need to trek a kilometer. Everyone were so tired that we planned no more to trek and rested ourself there. Two guys (Rajasekar and Santhosh) from our gang were so enthusiastic that they climbed till the peak and returned back while we took some rest for an hour. Since we didnt have enough drinking water (and tents too), we planned to return back to the hotel that night itself. At exactly 05:00 PM we started to get down the mountain. It was very slippery while getting down. But we took very less time when compared to climbing up the hill. At around 08:00 PM we reached Meppadi. We took a local bus from there to reach Kalpetta. Had a pakka dinner at Kalpetta. Everyone is so tired that we had no time to think of the moments we spent there. Had a very deep sleep that night.

Day one ended that way.

Day 2 :
For the second day, we had plans to visit four places (Nellamalla valley view, Meenmutty falls, Edakkal Caves and Karapuzha Dam). But we could make it only to three places leaving the Edakkal Caves. We should have started little earlier that day ;( We thought that these places won't need any trekking, but I would say reaching the Meenmutty falls was really adventurous and cool stuff for a trekker. It was too steep and slippery when compared to Chembra peak. The most coolest part was that we had the trees all the way, making the trek interesting.

Nellamalla Valley View :

We need to again cross the place Meppadi to reach this place. The path was intially not good, it was a red sand road with dust rising all the way. But after some distance, it was good. Since this too was like trekking, few people stopped in the midway. But we continued till the edge of the Valley view. When we reached the edge of that mountain, it was great. We could see a big green valley from there. The MeenMutty falls can also seen prominentely from there. MeenMutty falls was our next destination. It was real thrill to see the next destination, from a mountain that in just opposite to that falls, leaving a big valley in between.

MeenMutty Water Falls :

MeenMutty falls is the biggest Water falls at Wayanad. It is near the NeelaMalla Valley view. We have to trek for around 2-3Kms to reach the MeenMutty water falls. This trekking there was something opposite, we need to climb down the mountain to reach the falls. I think this was the most slippery and steep trekking we had at Wayanad. It took nearly one and a half hours to reach the falls. On the way we saw a butter milk shop. We were so badly dehydrated that we drank butter milk for Rs. 180 (Rs. 4 per glass). I'm saying the total amount that includes the butter milk we drank while climbing up and down the hill that day. MeenMutty falls is pretty wide and high. We took bath at the falls and asusual took some snaps too. MeenMutty falls will be an unmemorable place at Wayanad.

KaraPuzha Dam :
Our next destiny for that day was KaraPuzha Dam. We actually had plans to visit Edakkal caves, but since we took little more time at the MeenMutty Water falls, that plan was dropped. I couldn't say anything special about KaraPuzha Dam. That is because it was around 07:00 PM and it was already dark when we reached there. So the KaraPuzha Dam was just one of the place we visited ;)

Day 2 ended with a pretty good and heavy dinner at Hotel Kalpana, Kalpetta. Few of us had plans to see the sunrise the next morning. The problem is we have to wake up the next morning around 05:00 AM, if we need to see the sunrise.

Day 3 :
As planned, few of us got up early that day and started for the Sunrise. It was bitter cold outside when we boarded the van to the Sunrise Valley at around 05:30 AM.

KanthanPara Water Falls/Sunrise Valley :

We had no idea of where the sunrise valley is. But we started ;) On the way to Meppadi we enquired with all the persons we could see. But no one seems to have heard about that valley. Finally we found a person who adviced us to go to the Kanthanpara falls and climb up little higher that mountain to see the early morning sunrise. He was not sure that is the Sunrise valley, but he is sure that we could get a good view on the sunrise from there. We reached the KanthanPara falls and climbed up that hill for around a kilometer. Till 07:00 AM we could not see the sun, and suddenly the sun came out of clouds to show as how awesome it will be to see the sunrise for a hill top. That was an awesome feel there. We took a pretty good number of snaps. This was one of the important places we visited during the trip.

We returned back to the room by 08:30 AM and started to pack our bags, coz., we need to vacate the rooms that morning. Our next target was Banasura Dam. Since we reached Kerala, we havent taken the dish 'Aapam' (the Kerala's special), so we decided to take some Appams for that breakfast ;)

Banasura Dam :

Banasura Dam, the biggest earth dam (naturally formed dam) in Asia. Believe me, it was that much big. It was an amazing view to see the mountains and huge waters in-between stagnant over there. I couldn't cover the whole beauty available over there with my cam. Guys who have been put there for security purposes doesn't allow people to take snaps. It was a nice experience there. Since we people were damn tierd from the last two day's trekking, we were so slow walking along the dam.

Kuruva Dheep (Island) :
Kuruva Dheep, an island surronded by the back waters of Kelara. It spreads for around 950 acres. We had planned to spend the whole afternoon over there. It is pretty far from Kalpetta when compared to the other places. We need to cross the place called Mananthavady before reaching this island. We bought some lunch parcels at Mananthavady. Kuruva Dheep is a place where you can rest yourself for hours. We people being totally tired, it was a soothing place for all of us. We crossed the surronding water using the boats available there. Seeing the fresh waters we couldn't stop getting into the water. So we did that too ;) We spent around an hour in the water. The day being not very sunny, it was FUN in the water. We rested ourselfs for half-an-hour under the bamboo shades and started back to Bangalore.

On the way back to Bangalore, we hummed the 'all time best' tamil songs. Muthu and Prem led the show with some splendid songs. Finally we reached our homes by 04:00 AM in the morning. We didnt plan that trip as a trekking trip, but it finally ended at a hardcore trekkers trip ;)

Good to experience the thrill at Wayanad!!

More snaps at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/saponniah/sets/72057594057309135/

Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-1135790229454959672005-12-28T22:45:00.000+05:302005-12-29T10:46:57.373+05:30Trip to Nandi hills
Yeah, the last weekend was FUN. Mottai was here during the entire weekend and we went along with Keyan to many places in Bangalore. The one main trip I had planned was to Nandi Hills. As decided we (Myself, Keyan, Mottai and Sriki) took two bikes and to set on to Nandhi Hills on Saturday. Nandi hills is about 70-75 Kms from Bangalore. The drive was interesting and superb. Definitely those who love riding bike on highways will love this trip, as I did. I think it took around one-and-a-half hours to reach the top of Nandi hills. We stopped at many places on way to take some noshes whenever we can find some on the road side. I took my brother's digital camera and Keyan's had his DigiCam. So whenever possible we also flashed the lights.

At the top of Nandi hills is a Shiva temple, a small park and a hotel. We spent at around an hour or so there and started to return back. While we were getting the down the hill we caugth up a shooting crew recording stuff for a Kannda serial. I think there were shooting some song, I have never seen a song in tamil serial. That looked strange to us. As we proceeded we have to stop at few places to give some work for the cameras. The sunset, the lake along side the road were all looking beautifull. We had some good shots there. As we started to ride in the highway, it was real FUN with the chill air dashing your face. We reached 100 Km/hrs at times and the ride was awesome.

Nandhi hills snaps :
http://www.flickr.com/photos/saponniah/sets/1662126/

The next day too we were roaming around the city. A good weekend passed away ;) Looking out for the New Year eve now. Till now no plans, let me see what happens!!
Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-1134137511252964022005-12-09T19:36:00.000+05:302005-12-09T19:44:01.133+05:30CRY (Child Relief and You) donation!!
Today from my pocket :), I dotnated some amount to CRY organization. Yesterday we had two volunteers from CRY, Bangalore in our office to get donations for the welfare of CRY children. This is the first time I have spent some money from my pocket to help poor people. A bit of joy here :)

Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-1133007897543861962005-11-26T17:53:00.000+05:302005-11-26T17:55:59.750+05:30Sakleshpur Trek
The first trek of mine. Sakleshpur, around 6hrs travel by road on the way to Mangalore. Along with my brother and his friends I packed my stuffs for the trek. We have booked the tickets for everyone to Donigal (near Sakleshpur). The bus was on 11:30 pm.

At around 05:15 am, the bus reached Donigal. We got down near a tea stall. It was pretty dark around the tea stall, since it was the only one in that mountainous area. The speakers of that tea stall voiced a tamil song from the film Kadalukku Mariyadhi. It was a pleasent welcome to all we tamilians in the state of Karnataka. Someone told that the climate was around 10 C at that time. We were all shivering, getting all the possible stuffs out of our bags to keep us warm. We then had a hot tea in that tea stall. That made us feel little comfortable. We bought some diesel from that shop (with the plan of a camp fire that night). We then have to walk around 1.5 kms to reach the Donigal railway station (from where the real trek starts). We started to walk on the way that leads to the railway station.

We reached the railway station and got on the track for the trek. It was still dark when we started to trek. We kept moving on the track, we followed the directions of the track. Our destination that day was to reach Edakku Mary by the evening. Edakku Mary will be around 15+ from Donigal. Around 07:00 am we came across a bridge. The steel brigde for the trains to cross. There will be no support on both the sides of these bridges. Luckily the bridge had some plates on the railway track. We cautiously crossed the bridge. Then came the second bridge, this bridge had no plates on the track, that made us feel scary and uncomoforatble while crossing. We all took bath in the stream that ran below that bridge. We too had our break-fast there. We had chappathis, bread with jam and snacks with us.

After the break-fast the journey continued. Then came the first tunnel. I remember that was not too long. But getting into the first tunnel, we screamed to hear the echos and had fun. Bridges and tunnels came across the way. We too stopped at few places to take rest and to have some snacks. As time went the climate got sunny. We people carrying all the baggages felt uncomfortable under the sun. At around 01:00 pm came the longest bridge. It is 120+ meters long. Real good one to cross, the height was too big. Scary but adventurous. The water stream that ran below that bridge temped us to take bath there. We took an another bath there. Getting down to that stream and climbing back to the track was a real trekking, I would say. The path is not a proper one and is really steep. Just after that long bridge was the longest tunnel. It was 572 meters long. It will take 10+ minutes to cross that tunnel. It was completely dark inside the tunnels. We all had torches with us to help us out inside these tunnels. Just to have more fun, we lit up a fire ball when we crossed that tunnel. Everyone was hungry by that time. We then found a place just after that tunnel to have our lunch. It was 03:00 pm when we had the lunch.

To reach Edakku Mary we have to walk 3/4 kms from that place. But two of the guys felt to return back. With the help of a local guy there we took a jeep (the one used to take goods and people from that track to the nearest village) and reached a nearest village. From there we took the local bus to reach Sakleshpur. From Sakleshpur we reacehed Hassan through another bus. After we had our dinner at Hassan we took a bus to Bangalore and reached Bangalore at 02:00 am.

As a whole I would say the trip was FUN, SCARY and ADVENTUROUS.

Snaps : http://www.flickr.com/photos/saponniah/

Arun Ponniah Sethuramalingamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08481706269644325348noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431581.post-1129553638965627972005-10-17T18:22:00.000+05:302005-10-17T18:23:58.973+05:30SIMILITY - Firefox toolbar

simility is easy

The simility toobar is the fast, easy way to find great new content on the web.
